TSA Frequent Flier ID Cards

October 31, 2006 by Jack Kennard

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced standards for an ID card that frequent fliers may buy to get through security lines faster in airports.

This program will establish airport-security fast lanes for those who pay a fee, pass a government background check and submit ten fingerprints.

In addition to the annual membership fee — expected to be about $100 — the TSA estimates a background check will cost another 100 dollars.

The so-called Registered Traveler program could be in place by the end of the year.

Lufthansa & UA mileage news

This just came in from our Lufthansa representative.

You can use UA miles to upgrade, bookings on Lufthansa, with LH flight numbers.

Lufthansa and United Airlines are committed toward making this process easier, especially once the two reservation systems have been fully integrated.

  • UA needs at least 7 days advance notice to work this type of request.
  • The customer is booked in the upgradeable booking classes, (Y,B,M or H), using LH flight numbers and Lufthansa aircraft.
  • The passenger contacts UA mileage desk and asks for an upgrade.
  • UA will then contact LH mileage desk for the upgrade.

From our Lufthansa rep, Ellie Gratz,
Thanks Ellie.
